Sigma Beta Xi, Inc. Launches High-Tech Company Briko – A Do-It-Yourself Technology Toolkit

Moreno Valley- Sigma Beta Xi, Inc. led by CEO/Chairman Corey Jackson and COO Jernine Williams has been breaking down barriers for youth in the Inland Empire for almost two decades. Sigma Beta Xi’s mentoring programs have served over 400 students with a combined 26,532 hours mentored in Moreno Valley and the Inland Empire since 2011. As a result, they were recognized by Riverside County for non-profit excellence and awarded the 2015 non-profit excellence award from Community Connect. With the launch of Briko, Sigma Beta Xi, Inc. is joining a club of unique non-profits that build and invest in commercial enterprises to solve social problems through social innovation.

Briko is led by identical twin brothers and co-founders of Sigma Beta Xi, Inc., CEO Daniel Peeden, VP of People Darrell Peeden. Daniel Peeden said, “The mission of Briko is similar to Sigma Beta Xi, Inc., our job as a company is to break down barriers in our community to provide our youth and residents the opportunity of economic upward mobility. Briko is the first do-it-yourself technology company in the Inland Empire that is democratizing technology and entrepreneurship. With access to a Briko technology tool kit, Moreno Valley and the Inland Empire will have the opportunity to learn robotics, engineering and programming in a fun and easy way, which will lead to a paradigm shift of what is economically possible in our city and region.” Darrell Peeden said, ‘Briko will inspire and educate the youth in our community to innovate, design and create the community they want to live in. We can be a city and region that develops our human capital through technology and innovation. I believe the future belongs to the individuals who understand the language of technology. Therefore, it is time Moreno Valley and the Inland Empire build a startup ecosystem built on social innovation and community wealth development.”

Sigma Beta Xi, Inc. will begin offering Briko STEAM community workshops in Moreno Valley in the Fall of 2016 through their Zi Tech Initiative. Briko Marketing has recently opened their online store for Briko Kit purchases and will begin their Maker Night events in August 2016.
